This season of Coke Studio has been by far, my favourite! The orchestra is awesome and the freshness of the melodies is a welcome diversion from the sufi-ish touch of the earlier seasons.
One of my favourite renditions from Coke Studio’s Season 06 is the song Channa (English translation: ‘Darling’) from episode 03. What’s great about the song is that even though it’s in one of Pakistan’s regional languages (Punjabi), the composition is anything but typically Punjabi. Instead, it’s supported by a funky orchestra which makes it all the more appealing and energetic!
